A couple of reports have surfaced, very briefly, and then tucked away in a dark closet that no one in the Obama administration has even responded to. The first, and this came from the government’s own Bureau of Justice Statistics, reported that the number of people killed in gun related crimes dropped thirty nine percent between 1993 and 2011.
To make that figure a little more clear, gun related murders dropped from 18,253 to 11,101 during that time period. These figures are from the government itself. From the same agency, the Justice Department, that is so intent on trying to make us believe that we, the American people, are crazed beyond help with our fascination over guns. So crazed, in fact, that all guns should be banned.
Eric Holder was named Attorney General to do exactly that, with the full backing of the White House. From his first day in office, his primary job has been to disarm the citizens of this great nation. The ATF fiasco (remember ATF selling guns to Mexican cartels?) may have been designed to show how American guns get into cartel hands and then are used to kill Americans, which is exactly what happened.
There was a second report that is meaningful in another way. The Pew Research Center, which is not related to the government and which is generally neutral as far as politics are concerned, reported some stats based on our total population. Pew found that between 1993 and 2010, gun related homicides per 100,000 people fell from seven in 1993 by a whopping forty nine percent to 3.6 per 100,000.
When compared, the two reports pretty much back each other up, with one item that simply stands out and should be reported in bold face caps. The rate, as they reported, of non-fatal gun related crimes fell by seventy percent over that period.
These reports surfaced during the week of April 6, and by April 9 could not be found on news pages in the major metropolitan areas such as New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, or San Francisco. There was no reaction from the Obama administration despite the fact that one of the reports originated from his administration.
According to the Pew Research Center, their poll was conducted in March, and they say that about fifty six percent of those interviewed believed that gun crimes had increased and were at an all time high. Pew noted that, along with gun related crimes, there has been a dramatic decline nationwide in most violent crime areas. It was also pointed out that about seventy percent of all homicides are gun related. The second most used weapon is knives.
With fire arms legislation on the table in many states, with gun control advocates demanding a second vote in the Senate, it is hoped that reports such as these are actually read and understood. There will always be nut cases who kill their mother and steal her weapons, some demented terrorists who believe strongly in the right to blow up people for some far fetched religious belief, or believe they are a caped crusader righting cock-eyed wrongs, while on the other hand, there are solid, working, voting, respectable citizens that feel much safer knowing their rifle, pistol, or shotgun is close at hand when they lock their doors and turn off their lights at night.
Background checks don’t mean a thing when the weapons in question are stolen, don’t have a chance if a schizoid has never been diagnosed. To punish the law-abiding citizen for the unyet performed criminal act by a nutso doesn’t make any sense unless the real motive is to disarm the general public.
That’s it for now. Have a great day, read good books, and stay regular.
